Big Bus Tours

London has buildings in it that are older than our entire country. Just walking down a street can be home to more history than can be imagined, as long as you have someone to tell it to you. The Big Bus Tours of London is one of the best way to do that. We rode on the upper deck and listened to fact after fact from the tourguide. From the bus we could see everything he was describing without needing to wade through crowds. Plus, you could get off to explore at any time and then use the same ticket to get on a different Big Bus once you finished. Our Big Bus took us past the site of the Great London Fire and over Tower Bridge in addition to many other historic sites. We eventually got off at the Tower of London. The Tower was a wealth of information in itself. Every room provided new and interesting things to look at and read about. We explored the entire thing from the Bloody Tower to the Traitors Gate. From the Tower we took a Thames River Cruise ship to Westminster Abbey. As we explored the Abbey and listened to the audio tour, we came upon a shocking discovery. Charles Darwin was buried inside one of the most famous churches of all time. Despite being the father of the ideology of Evolution, the Church of England found a way accept him. From Westminster Abbey we sauntered to the London Eye. The Eye takes a half hour to make a full rotation and each pod holds up to 25 people. These pods can even be reserved for weddings (one of which we saw.) The day came to a close at the Silver Cross Pub with meat pies.
